VUDU MOVIES & TV

Vudu is a digital video store and a streaming service that offers movies and TV shows to buy or rent as well as free media. As a graphic designer in their Design team, my main focus was to create digital marketing assets for their web, mobile, and living room devices as well as social media platforms and Google ads. Here, I will go in depth into the process of creating assets for one of our big marketing projects and show some assets from other promotions that were offered throughout the year.

THEATER AT HOME

During the COVID-19 crisis, movie theaters were affected by the shelter in place order and led production studios to offer movies to streaming platforms earlier when they were set to appear in theaters. In order to advertise this, Vudu wanted to create a branding for these movies that are released early. Since this crisis was unexpected, this project, "Theater at Home," was under a tight deadline and we were given a few days to complete everything. With direction from the Art Director, I was assigned to create the logo lock-up as well as marketing asset templates.

Draft 1: Logo Lock-Up

This logo had to have its own identity while staying aligned with the Vudu brand guidelines. I started out with the idea on incorporating movie theater and movie related visuals. For colors, I wanted to try playing with a red that represented the movie theaters as well as the Vudu blue.

Draft 2: Logo Lock-Up

After presenting my initial ideas to the Art Director, some feedback he gave was to try incorporating the "home" more into the logo and currently, only "movie theater" was being represented. For this draft, I played with the shape of a house, television systems, and using couches instead of individual seating that is normally found in theaters.

Draft 3: Logo Lock-Up

For this draft, I stuck to using a dark red to represent the theaters. The main focus was simplifying the logo while playing more with the type style. The previous drafts has been more illustrative and we wanted a logo that could be resized and still be recognized.

Final Logo

This is the final Logo Lock-Up that we chose. We stuck with the red and chose one that represented a movie theater ticket. It is simple enough that it could be resized and still recognizable and worked on both light and dark backgrounds.
